Etna: Trekking to the Valley of the Bove and along the Donkey's Back!

At the designated time, at the Donkey's Back Parking, we will begin our little adventure on Etna! I will provide you with some wooden sticks that I made, so the walk will be easier and less tiring. After we introduce ourselves, we will walk through a pine forest, allowing us to start the hike in the shade of the trees. From here, once we pass the pine forest, a spectacular view of Eastern Sicily will open up before us. Since most tourists will reach other areas of Etna - related to mass tourism - our walk will always be peaceful, during which we will encounter very few people and walk along less frequented paths. After walking a couple of kilometers, we will reach the Valley of the Bove, a lava stone desert 7km long and 5km wide. While I tell you how this desert was formed, we will admire a wonderful view of Etna, Eastern Sicily, and even Calabria. From here, we will walk along a ridge that borders the Valley of the Bove - the so-called Donkey's Back - walking along fun channels of volcanic sand, and gradually we will return to the starting point, completing a loop of about 5.4 km, with an ascent from 1890 to 2100 meters. An experience to remember, away from mass tourism and full of surprises and fun moments. An adventure among lava flows and pine forests, perfect for a memorable hike!
